It was at the initiative of a prominent figure of the time, Mr Jeremias da Conceição Dias, that Marvão was endowed with its first hotel establishment. The heir of a house adjoining the residence of the neighbouring verger, he built and set up an inn there, to which he gave the suggestive name of "Ninho D' Águias" (Eagles' Nest), operating with five rooms. About 10 years later, it was extended to eight rooms, taking advantage of the extensive balcony to install a restaurant, where guests can enjoy the magnificent view.
In 1992, after a 15-month closure for expansion and refurbishment, the inn reopened with 28 double rooms and one suite.
